Tv updates

Hey there! We won't have a regular show today so let me give you some updates for the week.

First; Mad Men and Game of Thrones. They're both almost halfway through, that means the next episodes are probably going to be more exciting than the last ones. I'm not going to speculate much on GoT, but I will on MM.

Don Draper has surprised us all by staying in love (and in bed) with his wife, while Pete Cambell is crumbling in his self pity-loathing attitude (I hate that guy); my guess is that Don will eventually fall from the saddle. I would also like [a lot] to know more about Joan's particular situation, I have a feelig that Don is going to screw up and Joan will be the one to bring backbone to the situation.

Now in GoT, Tyrion seems to be the only Lannister who knows what they're doing. On another corner of the world we got Theon, who might be more stupid than we thought; he seems to be betraying Rob Stark, who has been like a brother to him, in favor of a father who never cared for him. We also have a possible aliance between the Sarks and Renly Barateon. One thing is certain, we've had two episodes filled with set up for action, so we should get very exciting and action filled episodes soon.

Tomorrow [Thursday, April 19] is the return of Parks and Recreation on NBC.. Also tomorrow on NBC, 30Rock's second live episode. It's going to be a great day for NBC comedies.

Don't forget to tune in to our show!

Avengers, assemble!

The world premiere is over, that means critics and members of the press have seen this movie already. And they LOVE it! the first reaction in general is positive, and "EPIC".

Marvel streamed the red carpet of the premiere live on their YouTube channel. The upside of having them making the questions (and not Ryan Seacrest) is that the interviews with the actors included from their experiences on set, to their opinions on comics and their storylines.

On certain occasions the reactions of the press may affect the film, that is, they may decide to re-edit something. I don't know if that's the case, but apparently after a press conference Robert Downey Jr. let slip that they were shooting something for the movie that very night. Later Mark Ruffalo confirmed this by saying "We’re shooting a scene tonight. I’m not sure exactly where it’s gonna go. All I know is that someone came in with the costume and said, ‘Here’s some wardrobe. We don’t know where you’re going to be or what you’re doing.’ ” Ruffalo said. We asked if it will be in the “The Avengers” when it hits theaters Ruffalo added, “Yeah. So I’m like, ‘All right, when are we doing that?’ Today after we’re done.”

My guess is that they found something that needed re-shooting.

Marvel also released a bunch of new footage and pictures to get the hype up.

Catching X-Men

As you may or may not know, hunger Games director Gary Ross has backed down from directing the sequel "Catching Fire" as I commented on the show, we thought it was more because of studio pressure than personal reasons. As it turns out Ros was not too happy with the cut on the production schedule (Due to Jenifer Lawrence's contract for the sequel of X-Men First Class).
 Ross declared:
"Despite recent speculation in the media, and after difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct Catching Fire. As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule."

Fox has dibs on J. Lawrence's schedule because their contract precedes the HG contract. And rumor has it Fox wasn't too thrilled when shooting of the Hunger Games prevented the actress from appearing on the premiere tour of First Class.

Quote from fan site Hypable concerning this:
"According to knowledgeable sources, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chair Rob Friedman pressed Fox to set a later start date for the X-Men movie, even offering allurements such as a chance to handle some of the overseas distribution on Catching Fire.
Fox was willing to move its start date back a few weeks and is still in conversations with Lionsgate on that issue. But the additional time would not have been enough to allay Ross’s concerns. And Fox may have been inclined to cooperate only up to a point. When the first X-Men film was released in June 2011, the studio very much wanted Lawrence to attend the premiere. The star was starting The Hunger Games then and Lionsgate did not make her available, apparently causing severe friction with Fox. Friedman, who was not at Lionsgate then and has a good relationship with Fox’s Tom Rothman, has been negotiating to win a little more time. Lionsgate is now said to be confident that it can complete shooting in the time allotted."

Amazing Trailers

May 4th is the release date for this movie. Marvel has managed to make awesome trailers and it just keeps getting better and better, here we have the trailers for Marvel's The Avengers.

After this first trailer Marvel gave us a trailer for the upcoming Superbowl trailer.

And this is the extended edition of the awesome Superbowl Avengers trailer.

Finally when we thought "this is as good as it gets" Marvel throws this incredible ad our way.

We are looking at what promises to be a real thrill ride.

More Mad Men madness

So, we have small snippets of light as far as the plot is concerned. But we will apply our powers of deduction and analyze the latest pictures uploaded to AMC's facebook page and try to say something about the time period and probably the show itself.

First on the list; the time period. Though a year has passed between seasons I believe a couple of years have passed on the show; we may be looking at 1966 or 1967. It is still the 60's, we know that from the hairdo's and clothing of the women on the posters. All the images are in soft sepia tones, which might indicate more hardship for Sterling, Cooper, Draper, Price; or just more intrigue between the characters.

Jon Hamm said on an interview that might come for Don, and the the most revealing piece of information is that the relationship between Joan and Don is going to be explored; he also hinted that this is not happening in a romantic way, they're alike and have been working together for a long time and they have something like a friendship going on, they know each other really well.

As far as Don's proposal goes; there's one promotional image where Don is looking into a showcase, and it features a mannequin with a robe sitting on a plush armchair and another one standing with a night gown on the floor. It clearly indicates Don's involvement with a woman, and the picture certainly looks more domestic than the usual (otherwise the male mannequin would be wearing a suit.)

What do you think? do you have any ideas of what might be coming to Mad Men?

Look forward to...

Hey there! With spring on it's way there's a couple of shows you should keep your eye on.
And yes, by a "couple" I literally mean 2, Game of Thrones and Mad Men. Thrones comes back on April 1st and MM will be back on March 25th. Mad Men will begin it's fifth season on AMC. If you haven't checked the show yet, I highly recommend you power-stream through them, if you've seen the previous seasons you'll be as excited as I am. (Mad Men, is a show centered on the life of Don Draper who's a big shot at an advertising agency in the New York of the 1960's.)
Game of Thrones is an HBO show returning for it's second season; since the first season it's only ten episodes you can watch them easily before the premiere of season 2. (For a review on the first season check out our last podcast on the radio website.)
Spring brings awesomeness to TV. Be sure to leave your comments on the shows right here, or on our facebook page.

The Oscars Pre-show

Brace yourselves, because this sunday are the Academy Awards.
This is THE weekend on Hollywood, everyone who's anyone on movie business at the moment will be there. Dressed for slpendor, Hollywood recovers some of it's past glammour. Long dresses black ties, jewerly and camera flashes; the red carpet is a must for fashion enthusiasts and the interviews are a must for anyone desiring to get a feel of the nominees before the show.
The show itself is classic, with homages to all the nominees, to people who passed away and with eventual sneek peeks tofuture peojects; and let's not forget the always surprising acceptance speeches, from the emotional to the political.
The oscars reveal the state of the industry, and this year we have a lot to look forward to.

Amazing Trailers

This friday is the release of "Act of Valor", a war movie that looks really interesting. Why is it different from other war films?
Well the movie involved actual Navy SEALS in the production and it is a very tactical film; we could say is the unnoficial adaptation of "Call of Duty" it certainly loooks a lot like the missions in the game.

I f you haven't heard of it, here's the extended trailer.

The 3D on Star Wars episode one

So after some time to think it over I think I'm ready to place the definitive ruling on the 3D aspect of the movie.
It's certain that the 3D is not the same you get with a movie like Avatar or Tintin which were made to be seen on 3D. But as far as 3D conversion goes, this is a great piece of conversion, and it is wonderfully done.
The 3D brings depth to the film, it gives the viewer a better sense of space, dimension and distance; it makes an inmersive experience even with a 13 year old movie.
It is woth it, if all 3D conversions were like this one, if all were had such an organic feeling like this; I would watch movies on 3D more often.

Hunger games superbowl Ad

Lionsgate finally decided they DID want to air a trailer for the hunger games movie during the superbowl, but hey only got a pre-game spot.
It is a smart move. There are men who do like the hunger games and a lot of women like and watch football these days, so everyone wins!
The trailer is also available online, I watched it already and it looks awesome, if you like reading I recommend you read the book first (it's not a big book); if you're not a reader It looks like the movie is going to be great anyway.
And of course, if you already red the book you're probably as excited as I am about this movie, so go ahead and give us your thoughts, you might get a mention on air during our next show!
